Begbies Traynor has promoted Huw Powell to the role of Partner at its Cardiff and Swansea offices.

Huw, previously an appointment taking director with Begbies Traynor, has more than 15 years' experience helping businesses going through financial difficulties. He is a chartered certified accountant and is also JIEB qualified, and joined Begbies Traynor 12 months ago.

Huw, aged 37, who lives in Cardiff, said: "I am delighted to be promoted to the position of Partner in our Cardiff and Swansea offices. As well as delivering some excellent outcomes for stakeholders in high profile insolvencies, the uncertain political and economic landscape has given us the opportunity to advise a wide range of underperforming businesses. These additional workstreams would simply not be possible without a great team and without us benefitting from being part of the UK's leading independent corporate rescue and recovery practice, which often means we have excellent relationships with all stakeholder groups.

"Our range of contacts and networks, coupled with the experience and background of our team, means we have the complete solutions to companies looking for business advice or to restructure."

Julie Palmer, Regional Managing Partner at Begbies Traynor, said: "Huw's promotion is testament to the work he has put into helping further develop our Cardiff and Swansea offices, as well as recognition of the contacts he has across Wales and the South West, and the depth of his experience helping advise businesses across a range of disciplines, including restructuring and insolvency.

"As a company, we are very proud of the breadth of experience amongst our senior team, which means we are readily able to make a tangible difference to business going through difficulties and can often help them get back to a position of growth and stability."
